He has a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from the University of NSW and also studied Civil Engineering at the University of Sydney.

Peter is one of world’s foremost experts in Digital Rights Management and eCommerce in Intellectual Property having worked in the field since 1994.

Prior to forming Content Strategies he was co-founder and director of rights management pioneer IPR Systems. Peter led the project team that researched, developed and implemented the first phase of IPR’s Digital Rights Xchange application that was used by the OzAuthors service. He is currently a director of OzAuthors Pty Limited and has worked closely with the Australian Society of Authors for the past two years on the impact of digital publishing on authors and supply chains.
He has recently contributed to a book on the publishing industry by authoring a chapter entitled “Multi-path Publishing, Distribution Channels for Delivering Digital Content in Print (POD) Formats, with a Focus on the Book Retail Sector”

Prior to forming IPR Systems he was Executive Director of Propagate Pty Limited from May 1998 to August 1999 where he was the co-architect of the Propagate research project and was its main driving force. During his time there he:
Conducted Australia’s first Consensus Forum in August 1998 into the issues of eCommerce of Intellectual Property This included the active participation by libraries, galleries, museums, publishers, content developers and collecting societies.
Established and led a major cross-sectoral workgroup that developed a market sector and product neutral system specification for intangible eCommerce. This group included representatives from Universities, Collecting Societies, multimedia developers, content owners, libraries, industry associations and IP lawyers. Through this work he became recognised as one of Australia’s foremost experts on eCommerce systems and strategies for managing and trading digital content and Intellectual property.

From July 1996 to May 1998 he was Project Director at Access Australia CMC Pty Ltd on secondment from one of its shareholders’ Pacific Advanced Media Studio (PAMS)
While at Access CMC he:
• Developed and established Australia’s first commercially viable independent Multimedia and Internet Testing Centre. (The AMTC
• Developed and established the Australian Schools Web Competition in 1996 in conjunction with the Department of School Education
• Researched and developed a Commercialisation Infrastrucure strategies for member Universities Intellectual Property.

Peter has been involved with interactive digital media since the beginning of 1988 while working for Apple Computer.
He put that experience into the co-founding of Pacific Advanced Media Pty Ltd in 1992 where he was responsible for the company’s long term product and strategic vision. He was Executive Chairman of Pacific Advanced Media Studio Pty Ltd from November 1992 to July 1996.
In the mid 1990s PAMS became one of Australia’s most innovative and high profile Multimedia production companies with a number of world firsts titles and technologies. PAMS worked closely with record companies, film companies and book publishers on a significant number of interactive media pilots and productions. Peter’s interest in the issues of rights management grew in part from PAMS experience as the developer of the Real Wild Child CD ROM which was completed in conjunction with Mushroom Records, Powerhouse Museum and the ABC. He also established a Singaporean subsidiary, Pacific Advanced Media Studio (Asia) Pte Ltd, and worked closely with development partners in the USA, Asia and Japan.

He worked for Apple Computer Australia Pty Ltd for six years as Third Party Marketing Manager, Small Business Marketing Manager and Senior Product Manager where he was deeply involved in establishing viable high technology commercialization and distribution strategies for Australian and overseas developers.
Before joining Apple he held senior marketing and product development roles with GIO, Bank America and American Express.
